The division directs, coordinates, manages and supports the following marshal's Service entities: the Special Operations Group (SOG) Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Office of Inspection Emergency Operations Center and the Marshals Service Communications Center. The agency’s Tactical Operations Division oversees such efforts. They respond to national emergencies as well as crises involving homeland security. The Marshals Service is primarily responsible for the protection of judges and other judicial personnel, the administration of fugitive operations, the management of criminal assets, the operation of the United States Federal Witness Protection Program and the Justice Prisoner and Alien Transportation System, the execution of federal arrest warrants, and the protection of senior government officials through the Office of Protective Operations.ĭeputy marshals carry out hundreds of special missions each year that are related to the Marshals Service's broad federal law enforcement and Marshals throughout the federal judicial districts.
